To me it looks like it's CWC but that fork is made identical to a post war 50s Columbia fork. Maybe I am wrong if the rear steer tabs are built in or welded on vs bolt on etc. What's the rivit spacing center to center on the badge and the head tube ?

Kickstand isn't original.
Looks like 3" spacing on the badge and holes on the head tube

Well we know there are two
Billy, I can't see from your pictures but does your friend's bike have this reinforcement weld on the lower frame as well? I'm trying to figure out if this was done at production or as some suggest, a repair. Thanks to all that have chimed in on this. Much appreciated.

Did not open this thread until today; (no room for tandemoniums).
I'm thinking that your bike is possibly a Rollfast because of the front fork, good luck w/ it.
At first glance (1st picture) I thought that the laminated truss-fork crown looked like a Snyder product; but then I saw a CWC-like head badge (2nd picture)?
Based on the bottom brackets, seat post mounting integral parts, rear dropouts etc it is almost certainly a 1930's or later machine…
Many of the red pictures (and one/black Hawthorne) show Snyder bottom brackets front & rear; (which would have been hard to replace).
I believe that the larger sprocket, with the five "space capsules" design may also be a Snyder part.
What is that one badged? That appears to be the answer for the OP's bike; does it also have built-in drop stand ears on the rear?
Now, I also see the 4-holes (5?) in the head tube; which usually means that the holes being used (2+7/8" vertical) were the ones drilled last (i.e., not original).

Also the rear fork ends look like Snyder parts of the mid/late 1930's.
