Thanks, Chris.
I think it was meant to be, because had I bought that one at the Oceanside swap meet, I might not have been as highly motivated when my 73 Kool Lemon J-38 standard popped up in the next town over about a year later.
I kind of had it in the back of my mind, that I should pick up a nice Sting-Ray just to round out the Shrine to Schwinn.
So after missing out on your fabulous 64 from Marty’s Bikes, I knew I had to jump when an example exactly like the one I had when I was a kid became available.
The seller of that bike was super stoked that I was the buyer, as he was the original owner and had bought it new from Seversons in Chicago before he moved to California.
The stars aligned all the way around for both of us.
Al Fritz would be digging that we all still care more than ever, way out here in California.
It was a match made in Heaven.
😎

Really thought about it at Oside and a good price but didn’t need another Coppertone, took a pic of the shop tag and sent it to Marty but didn’t hear back, went thru a couple owners but ended up in the right hands, good job Chris.

Marty,
I remember your ‘73 Kool Lemon you posted as I saved a few pics of it.
That is a Bright Stingray purchased new from Seversons in Chicago.

Heck, yes. It's always more interesting to see someone actually riding these bikes. Here's #2 son riding an Orange Krate (for the first time, in fact)...

Nice that’s great to see because there are A LOT of Stingrays owned by men too big to be riding them and kids going without the experience. Was an iconic bike that changed the outlook for many of us ‘60s-‘70s, why not make it happen again present day…?
