in my opinion-he pulled the auction for lack of interest. he probably had a price in mind and your bid wasn't it. not everyone has the time or can make time to respond to listed items on a daily basis. maybe they should just try a straight sell format instead of dond(which takes more commitment from the seller)! you didn't get it-get over it-there are plenty more out there to be had....and at a better price! half the fun is the 'hunt'!

Fair enough, and you can't demand fairness right? You can force it though. Rules are rules and some of the comments above are very telling, rife with willful ignorance. It seems there are two sets of rules for those apologists. I really did not "need" that frame but something was fishy going on behind the scenes. You have to wonder. I was willing to go higher, much higher, but he never waited for another bid. He pulled it, I guess he did not want a higher bid? Why did he list it to begin with and then block any potentially higher bids by pulling it? Only one answer. Someone got to him. A stripped frame and fork with a common-looking crankset on it right? Worth what I bid on it as described. It will surface again as it was most likely a teens Miami truss frame and fork with an original badge and crankset......ignorance is bliss. Now is it coming into better focus? Why did he pull it minutes after my higher bid? Why did he not let the bidding continue?
Instead of complaining, (and I see a lot of that here) I have a suggestion and possibly a solution that eliminates any chance of back room deals being made in the DOND fishing expeditions. It would completely level the playing field. here is it below~
You MUST set a minimum bid to post in the DOND. Otherwise, simply list it for the price you want to begin with in the for sale section and stop with the fishing in the watermelon patch BS as mentioned above. Once the minimum bid asked for is met to start the bidding, the seller is committed and cannot withdraw because of a back room deal, forcing those that seem entitled and smarter than everyone to come out of the shadows onto a level playing field. If a higher bid occurs within 24hrs, the seller can wait another 24hrs. If after that no higher bid (within the parameters set) comes, then it is SOLD. ALL the back room deals go away. It also would force the seller to not list it in other media, which would be prohibited clearly if the minimum bid occurs. If a seller pulls it after the minimum required bid, they are banned from selling in the future. Any downside to this? I would like to hear from those responsible CABE users, and not from the typical apologist-dumb dumbs' clearly still present.

Keep it simple.
It’s the sellers prerogative to hammer a deal.
If he wants to stroke his ego, and list stuff purely for a fishing expedition, that’s his prerogative.
That’s kind of what Deal Or No Deal is all about anyway.
I can completely understand a withdrawal for lack of interest.
There’s nothing wrong with that.
If the item just needs to be sold outright then just put a price on it and sell it in the classifieds.
What I’ll never understand, is why someone would list something in the DOND forum and then just accept the first bid they get?
The response to that mind boggler has always been, “I got the price I wanted”

I just had a bad experience with a DOND auction for a frame and fork with fenders. You know who you are. It was badged but the maker was not "identified", but simply his guess it was a "30's frame". I had an idea "who" the maker was, but the seller did not know as he did not mention the maker and assumed it was a "30's frame/fork". His mistake, NOT mine. I started off the bidding with a low-ish bid. 30 hours after my bid there was no response. He broke the rules. Giving him the benefit of doubt, I put in a bid that was reasonable for a stripped, unidentified frame and fork with a crankset in it with. He straight away said "No Deal, sorry" , then withdrew it completely. Over 200 views and no other bids. Why did he not let it run another 24 hours then withdraw it? Was someone working the scenes behind the curtains? Forensic scientists would have been very suspicious as this withdrawn DOND had all the fingerprints of collusion and a back room deal.
1.) Why did he not respond within 24 hrs? 2.) Why did he immediately after my 2nd bid (within minutes) post No Deal "SORRY"? Why was he "sorry". 3.) Why did he not wait another 24 hrs for any other potential higher bidders? You can only assume he was corrupted by a back room deal by another caber who "knew" what this was to begin with. The lack of courage, character, honesty and/or truth (if my intuition is correct in this case) it makes me want to throw up. Any seller who breaks the rules should be banned from The Cabe from ever selling again. Bad actors should be called out. This site is a fine resource for those honest people who make up the majority of users here and when the black hearts collude in secret to break the rules, we should call them out. You know who you are..
As Mr Spock would say...." You're questions are illogical"

The worst is when you are in an active bidding war with someone else and the seller calls deal before you have a chance to counter the last offer.

There’s a certain Mesinger advertising ashtray that I put a bid on about six months ago, and as far as I know, is still up for auction?
I don’t think I ever got a response, and I don’t think the item was ever withdrawn?
No worries on my end.
I placed a bid, that was obviously not sufficient, and apparently nobody else liked the item as much as I did, so the seller decided to let it ride for awhile.
Maybe someday, he’ll decide that my bid was good enough.
That’s ok.
At that time, we’ll revisit the deal, and see if I’m still as excited about it as I was?
No harm, no foul.

In all fairness, he did state in his poste that he's going to let it run for a bit...
