GM Sir this is my 38 crank
On my 40 blue bike has the same crank as yours, so I went with dated Musselman wheel set which is a 40

I found crank date on my 38
But could not on my 40
So I going with wheel set date only cause it’s such a original bike

So after some discussion with Jeff @mynameislegion he’s pretty much convinced me that the M&S spring fork wasn’t introduced until 1939. I’m including a pic of my serial number. I’d be interested to hear thoughts on this as well as any’39 lit. Thanks, Shawn

Don't know M&S serial #"s but mine is a D 3xxx and in the 41 Western Tire catalog running a sliding rail Messenger seat, still could use that rack but kinda like the one I have on there, think the later springer has a bolt for the pivot ( post war has that bolt also ), mine looks earlier with a stud/pin? that had reflectors, earlier one have a thinner top strut plate also.
