Another oddball. I believe it to be a 1947 Mercury sports model made by the Woodword Storen ltd of England. It is a 1 speed freewheel and has 597mm x 32mm tires. Apparently Kenda still makes them. I think it is all original. It has very narrow handle bars.I have no idea what I am going to do with it, for now it is hanging on hook. Happy hunting.
I scored a 1940 CCM Cleveland Canadian balloon tire double bar ( will complete all 3 frame models of that era in my collection) bike all original. It had OG red clay tires on it when the seller owned it, but he wanted to ride it ( the reds has slow leaks in the tubes and some flaking on tires) so had a bike shop source a modern tire/s for it and they literally tore the red clay tires off it ( they would have been suitable for display) and so ignorance exists in many forms no matter where or why. Pity.
So I dumped the new Chinese tires that were on it after I got home, and put some period correct tires on it. I may do a slight custom and put American rims/wheels on it to run red clay FAT brick tread 26 x 2.125 on it as opposed to the factory 26 x 2, 1 3/4. I will keep the CCM rims ( different size/won't take a 26 x 2.125)
and tires as I did with the other 2 CCM Balloon bikes I have that I put Michigan Safety Treads/American rims for Fattnesszzzzzzzzz.
It was awesome to see everyone today a Fitchburg Rides where I behaved (for the most part) and only bought a couple items (pair of Standard No.3 motorcycle/bicycle pedals and a Little Brute fork straightener) and traded for my, amazingly, first ever pair of Gibson pedals (now I just need to track down some rubber blocks). Thanks @soulshine73!
I had a bucket of “free with purchase” roses at Fitchburg Rides for anyone who may have gone overboard at the swap and needed to smooth the waters upon returning home to their significant other…
