Bike from the Dead
I live for the CABE
Saved this "Rust Resistant" Big Red Wagon from the garbage truck while I was out walking on trash day over a week ago. Dad's going to turn it into a shelf in his shop.
I didn't pick up much this last week, but I did score one thing that I'm really happy with! I got this '80s/'90s Schwinn cruiser locally for $20, and was in pretty good shape aside from the tires. I didn't buy it for the bike itself though; I bought it for the parts. I was mainly interested in that 26" BMX-style fork, but it's got plenty of other good parts on it, including a pair of nicely-trued chrome wheels.
A fun detail I spotted on the seat tube was a dealership sticker for Lee's bicycles, an old local bike shop close to home. Sadly, it closed shortly before I got into bicycles about... 10 years ago, I want to say? I don't remember, but I'm going to try and save that sticker if I can.
After swapping out the tubes and tires, and taking that Schwinn out for one last ride around the cul-de-sac, I took it apart and threw the fork and wheels on the bike I got those parts for: my multicolored JC Higgins "street bomber," The Colorful Colorflow.
