I see so many red and black bikes I usually jump on anything blue. I'm always glad I did especially this time. I'm thinking later post war DX with surprisingly decent paint, I'm not going to have to much more then dress this on up a bit. I could use some help nailing down a true date on this but either way it is just what I needed.

The serial number was stamped on 10-02-1948. This one may have been boxed up and shipped out before the end of the year. Looks like Schwinn was still trying to dial in their chain stay to BB welds in late 48. 🤨
 
Took the '36 Motorbike outside for the first time in a long time. Sorry for the rushed pics but a t-storm was moving in at the time. I'm the 2nd owner, since scoring it in 1999 on Ebay. The good old days of money orders and post-auction phone calls. I had to promise the original owner that I would not part out his childhood bike. Bike was originally purchased in Minneapolis by his grandfather. It moved with him to the Missouri Ozarks, where his kids rode it in the 1950's. The tank is literally a time capsule, with folded up newspaper clippings from the WW2 years.
