Because of the way team Lidl-Trek completely misread the make up of the large breakaway, Stage 13 was definitely two races in one.

Mads Pedersen had to pretty much go it alone to salvage what was a quickly evaporating lead in the green jersey competition.

That’s Jasper Philipsen on the line at the intermediate sprint, with Mads getting second by the width of a tire, and Binium Girmay taking third.
Amazing effort put out just to try and keep the points classification competitive.
Bravo!

This is the Jayco rider Mauro Schmid taking the stage win in style.

Because of the aggressive riding by Tom Pidcock, he moved way up in the overall standings and is now a threat for the podium in Paris.

Remco is going to have to mark Pidcock’s every move in these next two mountain stages.
The race for third is definitely on!

(Since this article went to press, the French rider Paul Seixas finished 3rd on Stage 14 and now sits 4th in the overall classification with a five minute and nineteen second deficit.)

Sunday will be extreme. Probably the last chance for any rearrangement of the GC.

Stage 15;
Big headlines today.
First and foremost,

Super bummed to see such a great competitor end his campaign this way.
The race for the podium placings just got a jolt, but nobody wants a spot just because a guy crashed out.
Just goes to show, no matter where you are or what you’re doing, it can all end in the blink of an eye, if you are not attentive to the situation at all times.
As they say, It ain’t over till it’s over.
You don’t get credit for diddly squat, if you don’t cross the finish line in Paris.

It was good to see him smiling at the finish line.
That was a well deserved win on top of an HC Climb!

Unfortunately, by the time they announce the winner, we have all moved on, so it’s never really known to many, who actually won these little competitions within the competition?
