Old Hotrod,

The skirt guards arrived a few days ago and they look better than what came with the bike- thank you!

I wanted to show you that the springs you were concerned about cleaned up wonderfully with a wire brush wheel. They look great!

I have everything painted and I will upload photos when I get them on the bike.

Thanks again!!

It might be a little difficult to see the skirt guards clearly, here are photos of the completed project. They look absolutely great!

Even though the springs that Old Hotrod was concerned about were in good condition (he sent additional, modern springs as a backup), it turns out that the distance between the front of the fender and bracket at wheel hub is further than the back of the fender and the bracket. As a result, the original springs looked like they were really straining (I was afraid they would eventually break) and I substituted them with the modern ones and they worked just fine.

Good call Old Hotrod.

A little background as to how we will use the bike. . .

I have two restored military jeeps- one being a 1943 Willys MB. My wife likes to join me in parades and car shows dressed in the "League of Their Own" baseball uniform that she made. The 1938 Columbia cruiser fits perfectly with this timeline and she gets ALOT of attention. Sometimes even more than the jeep. I included a couple of photos.

I am very thankful I found CABE and the great fellow enthusiasts that make it up.

Count your blessings!😍

Tripple3, you’re the best! I wanted to comment to 1938 regarding his attractive wife, but I couldn’t come up with a way that didn’t seem inappropriate. You nailed it!! Mine’s not my high school sweetheart, but we’ve been married for thirty five years; first and only marriage. That’s an accomplishment in this culture. And I have no idea why she’s still around, says more about her than I. I was working with someone the other day and I said, “my wife’s an angel.” His shoulders slump and he looks down at the ground before replying, “mine’s still alive.” LMAO. I’ve never heard that retort before.
