Its been years since Ive been to this swap meet. I used to go to all the nor cal swaps, being a 50's-60's chevy guy my whole life . It was never as full of vendors and people as it is now. I got up at 4:30 am, left the house at 5:10, got to the swap meet exit in Turlock at 7:10, thought kool, gates open at 7, Im good. It took me a hour and a half to get to my parking space once I got off the freeway (normally takes about 5 minutes). Even if you are only going on Saturday, you must pay for a sat/sun 20 dollar ticket. Walked through the aisles for several hours, probably missed some of it. Seen a neat original 56 chevy 4 door for 6500 and early 50's chevy 2 door for 3 grand that would have made a good gasser and a late 60's nice original ford 1/2 ton 4x4 high boy for 15 grand. Also seen a nice clean original little 60's silver yamaha gt80 and a nice 79 Yamaha yz80. Seen a original disk brake orange krate for 3200 in worse shape than mine. Spent about 3 or 4 hours walking through the meet and didnt see anything I couldnt live without. I think swaps have become something where you need to buy a vendor pass even if you just park on the spot so you can get in on Friday. Lotta deals are made before the swap opens to the public.

Thanks for the pics Rudy. It was the first time ever I never left the booth at a swap meet. But the steady flow of CABE members that stopped by to visit was the highlight of the weekend. I have been involved in many hobbies over the years but never has there been a more friendly, fun loving, helpful, honest, and courteous group of people than this band of bike gypsies. We enjoyed reconnecting with our old friends and making new ones as well. @Heatwave this guy is a first class person and a great swap meet helper. He picked up after me all weekend and helped us load the trailer when it was time to leave. I would list all the great people that stopped by to visit but I don't want to leave anyone out. You know who you are. Thank you for your great bike stories, your sense of humor and most of all your friendship. Tim

In these pics I don't see anyone riding bikes or golf carts, are they not allowed during show hours?

I needed a day like this at the Turlock swap, what looked like a very nice end of January swap in the middle of Winter in central California. So many to thank on this day. First, to @Jeff the Skid for hooking us up in getting us in. Two, swapping and buying parts from friends, Gary Quail for the ’36 Morrow hub, and Gary @PlasticNerd for bringing me a very patina ‘d Delta Gangway for my ’36 project. Spent most of our day browsing with our dear friend John @Livmojoe. Gary Quail joined us later, and we ended the day with our good friends Armando and Connie. But like Tim @Tim the Skid said, the best time was when we were all there at Tim and Sue’s space just hanging out enjoying Tim’s delicious BBQ chicken and dogs for lunch. Top it off with Tim playing his guitar and singing songs, so much fun being around friends. Just not enough time.

My wife and I were tickled to hear Tim playing the song he wrote for Mercedes.

A special thank you to our friend Joe @Heatwave. I bought a bike for my wife from Santi @Rust_Trader. Weeks prior, I was talking with Joe and knew he was coming up for the Turlock swap. I asked and Joe accepted our big favor. The two worked it out, Santi delivered, and Joe brought the bike to Turlock for us. I love it when the CABE community helps each other out. We are both very grateful.
