Finally riding a big boys bike
I am looking for a Sturmey Archer ASC shifter for an ASC 3 spd fixed gear hub. The bike currently has one of the early brass top tube SA shifters and in spite of modifying the shifter it is still not spaced right for the gearing in this hub. A more modern non ASC trigger has the same problem you can either adjust to shift low to middle or middle to high but even after lengthening the travel range of the shifter I can not get full engagement of all gears. It will just catch on high and low if adjusted just right but neither is fully engaged and it would surely damage a rare and valuable hub if it were ridden that way.
If you should happen to have something, patina is fine, actually preferred since the bike is a little crusty anyway. Something that looked real nice would stand out too much. It would be great if the cables, related clips and pulley were with it but I can make do without those. The hub is, if memory serves me, from 49, not that that matters on the trigger though I doubt that the modern Sturmey fixie hubs would have a compatible trigger but who knows, internally they might be the same.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can't find a trigger I might be persuaded to sell the fixed gear 3 spd hub and go to a regular SA 3 spd hub. It was fairly recently laced up to a older 28 x 1 1/2 Raleigh rim.
