We spent the day with my good friend Mel @Mel_e_Mel and Chris, from San Jose. I've wanted to ride along SoCal's version of this open road for pedestrians and cyclists, so we thought to check San Jose's version. And since we had planned to pickup a wheel-set from Gary Quail in Santa Cruz, we thought why not join in their city's version called Viva Calle San Jose. San Pedro Square, central downtown, afterwards was awesome. Big thanks to my Pinoy brothers for hosting my wife and me for the entire day. Another fantastic day with friends on our vintage rides.

This is Gary Quail of Santa Cruz, our good friend and go to guy for wheel building. On this day, I met Gary at the famous Faber's bike shop location to pickup my wheels that he laced and trued for me. Gary has a lot of history here; he worked for Fabers as a mechanic in the 70s to 80s. Gary can tell you some stories. Thanks friend for taking care of me on the wheels.

I haven't seen Mel @Mel_e_Mel in almost 9 months, and that's because he was on deployment to the middle east. It was good to see him finally and spend some time riding what we enjoy, our vintage bikes. Fun day hanging out with these two cats.

Since Skid brothers Tim @Tim the Skid and Jeff @Jeff the Skid were coming down for Jim’s @JAF/CO swap, we hooked up and met at Jim’s shop this afternoon. Rick @Scrick67 and Chris @slick were already there. But when friends Armando and Frank showed up, then Cory @Cory and Mark @mrg we had ourselves a little fun with Jim at his shop. Bikes were purchased, a frame and tank, another Airflow metal tank, a few smalls as well. What a blast, a taste of what will be an awesome day at Jim’s swap tomorrow.

Being that this is the 30th CycloneCoaster swap and ride weekend I didn’t want ti miss Frank’s @cyclonecoaster.com swap. And then to be able to extend the weekend with other SoCal CABErs and their families just makes it so worthwhile. That’s why we chose to come down, to see and ride vintage bikes, share stories, and laugh with one another. A few of us got together yesterday. Special VIP treatment from Marty @cyclingday as our tour guide in and around Newport Beach. Thank you all who joined us for another fantastic SoCal experience riding vintage bike and hanging out with such wonderful people.
