I guess it all depends on what's your end goal?
To be vintage correct you will need to stay with old, dry, stiff original U.S.A. made vintage tires that will have at the very least fifty years of shelf storage life on them.
The tires that Marty pictured above look very nice mounted on his Whizzer and offer a great value for "a rider" application.
I went in a different direction. I ride my Whizzer and desired to have "the best high-quality tire available". Since it's such a PITA to repair a flat on a Cycle Truck Whizzer Power Cycle I approached the choice as one of cost not a consideration. I also had to find a tire size that had matching treads in both a 20" and a 26" tire size. I ended up with the Schwalbe Pick Up tire. I also selected their heavy duty (Air Lite?) inner tubes which hold air very well without leak down. This is a 30# to 65# air pressure tire and rides great with a good road feel.
One of the benefits of the recent popularity of the eBike's and European utility bikes is that the market is flooded with tons of choices for high-quality tires, you just need to review what's available. The tires are also available in different widths and even some have folding tire beads. The new tires/tubes are not inexpensive but offer very high-quality casings and treads. The best way to describe them is they are like small "speed rated" motorcycle tires.
