I had the great pleasure of meeting Ian and going on a couple rides with him. He had such a laid back personality and on the rides he had a constant smile that you couldn't help but smile back at. As others have said, he was definitely one of the good ones and it was clear he truly loved the ride. I wish we had the chance to go on many more. I'll be thinking about him on the rides to come and hopefully in some way, shape, or form he'll be riding with us.

Such sad news, Ian's posts and photos were always a pleasure to see from faraway, across the pond.
You could sense the joy he found in riding those lovely machines in that beautiful part of the world.
And those little comments of greeting in response to mine and other's posts always made me smile; as if your paths had crossed on the trails, even though you may have been thousands of miles away.
You will be missed Sir.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Woke up yesterday morning and received a text from Rick. Upset and very sad to hear about Ian’s passing. I met Ian at the Keizer swap meet in Oregon summer of ‘22. He bought a pre-war Rollfast fastback frame bike that day. I told him that I also have one, and that’s how we started communicating with each other, plus we both had a love for super wide bars. When we were up in Washington this past September at the Burley Creek swap, he said that he had something for my wife. I get my wife and he hands her a like-new maroon vinyl saddle bag. It was a gift to us, and of course we were touched by his generosity. Ian’s saddle bag has since been on our crusty ’48 Schwinn DX, originally maroon in color under all that rust. So when we are on a ride with our "Crusty Rusty", this saddle bag will always remind us of Ian.

He was such a gentleman to have met and known, for even this short time. I imagine he was a good friend to many of you. RIP friend.

We had a few good talks and some very relatable ground. Not someone I knew personally, but his name has hands down been among my most seen into for his perspective, information and passion.

I'm really sad to hear this, and have been trying to find the right words since I came about this, Day Of.. there just aren't any.
The good always go too soon.

Ride On, Ian. The Trails are all yours and the great folks that came before you, until we meet again.~
