After looking at the information, graciously provided on this thread, I now believe this one to be the Mesinger type.
 
Some good intel, in this 1897 advertisement.
Note that the 1896 pattern saddle was still being made in 1897 as the “Model A”
While the new pattern for 1897 was considered the, “Model B”
Note the difference in the chassis and the thickness of the nose/pommel, with the 1896 Model B, pictured above, in the last post.

1896 models had the Model A type.
1897 models could’ve had either, Model A or Model B type saddles.
