1929 Shelby Built 28” Original Paint Lindy Bicycle
Today I played with the Lindy a bit. The saddle got swapped out with a blue leather Troxel recovered by Josh @stratolite. The black 1930’s motor grips are now gone. I humored myself with the blue Coke bottle grips but ultimately settled on the clay red period correct ball ends.
I remember when Larkin first brought it home.
I used to live in Baltimore before moving to Santa Fe, NM in 1990……long time ago when we used to travel together to shows. Funny that it ended up in Santa Fe!
I quit the bike scene in the 90s but just got “lightly” back into it picking up the odd bike here and there. Saw you at the Eldorado motorcycle show. I can safely say Larkin had accumulated all of the rarest prewar bikes before I left. He even came out to visit Santa Fe in the 90s.
Santa Fe is not a great bike hunting place as it was not a great place to ride with dirt roads and not a rich enough community back then to afford nice bikes!
Best find in Santa Fe? I saw a guy pushing a girls Dayton Champion lit tank down the street! Yelled out my car window if it was for sale and he said $50 bucks! It was complete in great shape. Now how weird is that!
