Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
Super nice orig paint frame set with crank, fork, struts and guard I recently acquired in a trade from a fellow
caber... 350 range trade value etc. Frame set was so nice I added the nicest original unrestored pair of S-2
wheel set I've had kicking around for years for just such a bring back. Also added NOS black and white fenders
and a nice original Schwinn Mesinger Cycletruck/Wasp/late Phantom style saddle.. Some decent Wald 40's
era pedals... bars, stem and Anniversary comfortable Schwinn black grips. So a substantial $ value of
inventory parts to get it back together. Stem blistered the chrome upon tightening...I'll include a nicer
forged stem replacing this one. My first true original Schwinn cruiser here at the beach cities was one of these straighbars...
they were 'exotic' as hell back then same base model.
A simple orig vintage 40's or 50s ballooner bike like that garnered a TON of attention at the local beaches here
in the 70s when everything was a 10 speed, lightweight or fenderless Schwinn modern cruiser.
Bicycle market has gone all directions today with crazy design and retro of course...
Only the very astute and observant realize what these classics are when you roll by.
