You edited my post. 🤬 I don't want to destroy this thread. Did you check it out the link I posted? That's all I know about that faded 64 Lime.

My guess is that there is "too little paint" left on that bike for it to be a factory paint job. The paint is gone even in the areas that would be in the shade. It's likely a Deluxe Sting Ray, that was "repainted" with spray cans with Flamboyant Lime paint. While they were at the Schwinn Dealer buying the spray paint, they purchased some "original replacement" decals from the dealer. The Sting Ray decals were available in black for the Lemon-Yellow bikes.

There's a logical Storey behind that bike that has yet to be told.

A closer inspection needs to be done on the chainguard. Is the Schwinn graphics silkscreened, or a water transfer decal?

Actually, that could be pretty plausible, being original paint. I have two 1963 Lime varsities that I picked up and the paint was fine. They both got rained on during a monsoon storm and the paint literally washed off the frames. I bought a new 64 varsity when I was a kid, flamboyant lime, and I ended up repainting that bike when it was three years old because the paint was crap.. just looking at those pictures, I’m really leaning towards original paint, or what’s left of it. I do think the markings have been replaced at some point, the quality decal on the seat post is still in white.

Wow, this thread has completely derailed from the original post. I'm a bit hesitant to stick my nose in this thread for fear of getting it bit off, LOL. That Facebook bike looks like the decals were replaced. The "wife" (this one also smells like a scam) selling the bike stated her ex-husband "will always stand there and build bikes all day, he took other bikes with him and left this one, I just cleaned it up, I don't really know how much it worth and where to sell it." She just cleaned it??! Uh, OK.

I'm strongly leaning towards this one being "fiddled with" (replacement decals) and not factory. If they were factory installed black decals, then why isn't the quality seal on the seat mast also black?

HNY John,
I see you have a New Avatar, very nice.

Threads get derailed, but don’t be hesitant as it’s all about a Schwinn and you have a sharp eye.
I’m not sure of the month/year of this shorty bike showing some Lime paint, but I see other items “fiddled with”.
Short frame with a long crank.
Long tail rear fender. Should be a short tail. That’s why the fender brace looks strange on a short frame bike.
Over the counter square back strut.
