Any updates on this? Would really love to follow the progress and outcome of this one!
Trust me I’ve been itching to get the cleanup started but I really wanted to make sure I had all the best products. Quick thanks to Chris aka 60sstuff for all the cleaning tips and a wealth of information about this bike. Truly appreciate it. I’ve now collected what I need and am starting. So far only have the bars, stem, seat post, seat clamp and sissy bar cleaned. I will post some pics shortly and will keep adding as the project progresses

Couple progress pics…thankfully this bike is coming apart like a dream! Chain guard is safely stored in the house so there is no chance of it getting damaged while cleaning everything else

Some slightly upsetting news the front wheel is not original 😑….it is a side stamped 69 s-7
….it was the only item on the bike I was suspecting might not be original…however I am VERY confident the rear is correct center stamped s-2. On a positive note despite the s-7 looking like it was at the bottom of the ocean at some point it cleaned up fairly nice 😎

Those S7 rims like that were issued in 1965. First year for that side stamping and reversed Where are you had to read it from the opposite side.

Oh ok I did not know that I thought it needed center stamp. However main thing was the axle is stamped z-69 which I’m guessing is 1969? I’d love it to be original but want to be 100%

Evan,

Everything is matching up correctly for this HA Super. This is what’s so nice about an unmolested Survivor like yours.
The handlebar should have two Schwinn names stamped in the center of the knurling. No date stamp yet.
The stem now has the MAX HT moulded into it.
High loop strut has the early style crimping and crisp rectangle vent hole at bottom.
