Very nice original Coppertone Deluxe, cleaning up really nice too. Are your tires date coded to the bike?

Being MD, December 68, it's a 69 model and the seats started changing from silver glitter to match the color of the bike. Is your seat a hard side, ie: no padding on the sides? And does it have the step up pan? It's a raised section by the seat clamp, can't quite tell from the pics
Does a step up have a different top pan or is it a referrence to the seat clamp itself have a raised section?

You gotta love Coppertone.
What are the first two letters on the left hand rear dropout?
I see a paper label saying it’s an MD.

Photos don’t reveal much on the Seat or the Rear Hub.
My observation says the seat looks to be a 1967 hard side.
Also the rear hub looks like a Yellow band 2 speed. Need to see a clear photo of the brake arm.
The 2 speed Stingrays would be an “Overdrive” Blue Band hub.

Thanks for the follow up photos of your Dec. 1968 Stingray confirming the Automatic 2 speed Yellow Band.
Definitely a one year only 1967 seat with the hard sides.
Pedals are readily available for an MD bike.

Interesting, I also have a Dec., 1968 bike (Fair Lady) and it has the bigger front sprocket.

It is not a '68 if it has the 46 tooth mag sprocket. It would also have the slash style chainguard not a wingtip. The stamp date is a '68 but the bike would be a '69
