Finally riding a big boys bike
Hello everyone! Just picked this 80 Deluxe Cruiser up locally a couple days ago. I mainly bought it to upgrade my existing 82 Cruiser, but then I got to wondering. I really haven’t seen many Cruisers with a factory springer. I take it that is what makes it a Deluxe after all.

My question is, is the right seat for a deluxe the normal Mesinger of this era? Or is it the Persons?

Also, what is this potentially worth? They seem to be pretty rare to my research. I don’t have any intent to sell, just curious.

I’ll be posting my progress of the bike when I get around it it. For now I tested a spot on the top tube just for fun!

Thanks all!

It's nice to see an early 80 model, very odd to see the badge hole that misaligned though. That looks to be the correct seat in the 80 catalog.

The 81 catalog shows the black Mesinger on the deluxe model for whatever reason.

When you get around to working on it, post pictures of the tire date stamps(something like a UU (11 9) 4 if they are original Schwinn, and a picture of the 4 digits on the coaster brake arm, please.
Just a friendly reminder, be very careful with the screening(white letters) on the chain guard. Those, the spring fork and the seat are the only differences between the Deluxe and standard models.

Thank you for your insight! The original studded balloon tires are long gone unfortunately.

Here’s a photo of the brake arm, 0002.

I would lose the baskets unless you have a paper route clean it up, find a suitable seat and have 2 cruisers. All cleaned up with new tires and better seat it is still only a $300/$400 bike. Correct tires and seat maybe more $ but good luck working those 2 items into the budget

Cool! Yeah don't often see those...I have a totally stock orig blue one, nice shape...
Gumwall Schwinn tires still on board.. for now a keeper, but may flip.
anyone?
