'35 Elgin refurbish

I usually just build, and don't document, but the transformation is pretty amazing. Although it was brought a long way from the previous owner, there was still much to address. After studying some photos of same model bikes and looking over my parts pile, I decided to jump in.

Minutes after purchase, trying it out, P.O. did a nice job making it a rider

Stripped down, remaining over paints removed as much as possible. This bike had at least 4, maybe 5 coats of paints in various colors. Some would not come off , where there was gouges in original paint, and some places I had to stop to not remove the original red

The fork is going to be a challenge

This bike was painted green over a yellow? on top of a heavy black with light blue under it all

A couple of spacers addressed the gap between tire and fender

Little bit closer......
Bobbed the front fender for more of a motorbike look, added airplane ornament I've had for years on shelf. It looks like a DC-2 , which is period correct... I guess
