On Training Wheels
I grew up obsessed with baseball and a dad that was not. The one thing that brought us together was restoring vintage Schwinn bicycles together. We spent hours in the garage together and I miss every minute of it. My dad passed away in 2020 and I recently wrote and published a book honoring him and our hobby.
“Hands a Little Dirty” is a short story about a boy who wants to win a bicycle competition in his new neighborhood. He has one small problem though; his bike was stolen right before he moved. With the help of his dad, he tries to pull off the impossible and restore a piece of junk. During this time with his dad, he learns the importance of working hard to achieve a goal.
The book can be found on amazon and is a children’s book that teaches you about working hard and getting your hands dirty to make something great; a concept that I feel isn’t around much anymore with today‘s youth.
