Mike, you'll have to let me know how you do on BAT.... If these prices are real then it very well may be time to part with my krates.

It is not as easy as having an item and wanting to sell on BAT, they have a very lengthy hard/stringent vetting of the items they list, and conditions of the sale. Not like Ebay where anyone can list just about anything in a matter minutes. But for those that are patient enough to go through this process and succeed, payoff could be very good. I do not know if I will be patient enough to keep at it. We will see.
No bike category on BAT as besides Whizzers, these were the first bikes on there. We will see if there are more to come.

BAT would only be viable for the most expensive of vintage bikes. Most vintage bikes would not be worth the time or effort for BAT. Ebay and the CABE are successful with selling most vintage bikes because they are geared more toward run-of-the-mill type items. You're not going to do BAT with your average $500 vintage bike. The CABE and Ebay work reasonably well for that kind of thing without the hassle.

The seller of those Krates is a car dealer, so maybe he got some kind of inside approval. All those Krates were restored.

I've been doing business with Japanese collectors for decades, they are a lot smarter than you give them credit for. Most of the finest Ferrari cars ended up there, and they love the very high-end lugged steel frame roadies like Hetchins and Condor. The Japanese make their own reference books, the book on Hawaiian Aloha shirts in Japanese is the best one. They have an eye for Americana and a large portion of vintage USA made clothing is there.
