Question for the Schwinns SMEs. Are Coker Schwinn Typhoon Cord accepted as Schwinn originals for a Phantom Bike ? How can you identify a Coker tire since they dont say made in usa?
Wanted to let you all know i just got my two new NOS Typhoon Cord tires from Coker Tire in Tennessee. They are 26" by 2.125" and they look legit. No "made in china" anywhere and they are indeed old. Think with shipping they were about $34 each. They are closing them out so if you need them, better hop on to their site and get a pair coming. They have the old style script and not the new italicized letters like the ones I bought in 2001 or so.
The Coker Schwinn tires offered at a discount a couple of years ago are crap. I bought 6 and after one blew out and one separated sitting on the bike, I threw the other 4 into the trash. They aren't even good for display unless you display them flat.
i heard when this company coker tire company when they try to reproduce the Schwind. Typhoon chord in 26 / 2.125.
They really were not two point 125.They looked more like two point 000 more looking like middleweight size.
