Im just trying to get the originals made in USA but i want them free of cracks and clean. Not been lucky so far.

Thanks !

So do you now have a bike? Not all year Phantoms are the same as far as options and equipment. Early Phantoms can be found with U S Royal Master tires. If you have a bike it would help to know the year. If you haven’t seen this thread I suggest a read

So do you now have a bike?

I was wondering that too. I even asked if he was going to mount the "new" tires on a bike. Why would somebody try to buy a set of exceptionally hard to find tires if they didn't have a bike to put them on? And if you don't have a bike, why buy the tires? This is odd.

And if you do have a bike, why not post pictures????????

I don’t think it’s odd. Who is to say what is the correct methodology for building a bike or for that matter, learning about a new interest.

What I think is odd, is your fixation on this new member and how he goes about learning. I find your remarks to be discouraging and frankly, counterproductive to the sustainability of our hobby.

People join this forum hoping to learn and share, not to be shunned because they don’t follow your logic.

Careful, you might bruise my ego.

I dunno. I stepped up right away ( not sure I can even find his original post) if I recall and answered all his questions. I certainly have been ( am still somewhat) obsessed with vintage tires for decades and often not had a bike for them. I display some vintage tires ( even car /LOVE wide whites!) and wheels sometimes, quite often actually. It's just not what most on here expect I suppose. I don't think anyone is busting his balls, just questioning his patience maybe? I've never had that either. This pic is about 5 years ago, but I still have the tire and swing!

Question for the Schwinns SMEs. Are Coker Schwinn Typhoon Cord accepted as Schwinn originals for a Phantom Bike ? How can you identify a Coker tire since they dont say made in usa?

Avoid ANYTHING Coker ever made.....bicycle tires wise. I bet their car tires are horrible China crap also...
THEE Worst ever!

If they wanted to make bike tires that were easily ID'd from originals...they succeeded...
If they wanted to make bike tires that basically dry up and blow away simply from storage?
they succeeded.

Nuke that company
