Tar!
The one substance that sucks the life outta the party. Here is a front fender I hope to roll soon once the tar is completely off. Removed the braces and hosed the tar down with WD-40. Don't think it's strong enough...but gonna let it sit over night. If it's a no good guess I'll try alcohol then if that doesn't work oven cleaner will be next. Stay tuned

If that tar won't come loose for you, a few ideas would be 3M adhesive remover, Wax and Grease remover, or enamel reducer. I'm sure there are plenty of other things out there that also will soften that stuff up. Thanks for posting your work!

Thanks for the tips fellas!!
The WD-40 soaked through over night and the majority of the tar softened to the point that I could scrap it off with minimal work with a scraper tool.

Ok scraped off more and washed underside with warm soapy water and paper towels and rinsed with more WD-40 after drying the soapy process. So with it clean I can now see the areas in need of work.
Dusted off the top too and all that's left is the clean surface and bare metal bits and aged paint.

I recently began working on fenders too. I have a short story about Hanson Rivet Company. Care if I post it here? I wanted to ask first.
