Always start your tagline with Mfg. name first. eg. Schwinn, Elgin, Torrington, Lobdell etc. If it's prewar then add that next. Then description words...drop center, brace bars, stem, sprocket. Don't get wordy in your tag line or your listing could get buried. Save the details for the item description.

Thanks David, can I do that being a non E-bay seller? I can watch the E-bay sales but I'm not an account member.

There may be sayings about engaging in business with friends or family.
The friend would be providing a service, and besides paying you some of the proceeds, you might wish to have some kind of "accounting system" set up.

If the number of items (5) is small, then the accounting of where all the money goes might be simpler, on an item by item basis.

If the arrangement grows into dozens of items, some that sell fast, and some that sell slow, perhaps you and your friendly service provider could agree on a simplified spreadsheet, and a reporting frequency (by item; weekly; monthly; etc.), and accounting for your items separate from your friend's stuff:
  • Number of items sold
  • Number of items not yet sold

  • Item number & brief description
  • Final bid price on eBay, plus shipping (if any)
  • EBay's fees
  • PayPal's fees
  • Net amount received from PayPal
  • Shipping cost
  • Friendly service provider's cut
  • 10% for the big guy
  • Amount paid to you.
Just an example!

I used to have a friend sell things for me. I gave him the item and the bottom line number I wanted to get back and the deal was he could keep all profit he could get that was over my number. Needless to say he went to work and did very well for himself. We were both happy with the arrangement.

I like to keep things simple. I sold for people back in my first foray into ebay 15 years ago. they brought items over, I listed them, and gave them money when they sold.

I wrote it down on a piece of paper but none of them ever looked. I don't think they even knew my ebay name to check the auctions.

they either trusted me or they could sell their own stuff. for one guy many times I gave him the whole selling price minus the fees. he was unemployed and didn't even have a car at the time.

A friend of mine is going to sell some parts for me on E-bay, He has 100% positive feedback but he is not a bike guy. Any suggestions on how to list to get the most exposure, should there be a buy it now, with a reserve. He said sometimes they make offers. What should I watch out for. He has PP. He's only charging me 15% plus I don't know what E-bay fees are. I'm trying 5 items to see what happens. Any helpful suggestions on what to do or not to do. Thanks
Add an additional 15% for eBay and PayPal fees
