Looks like a Schwinn freewheel drum... Pat. Pending judging by the early clevis.

This is actually a custom guard built by member and local friend @wheeliekool66. Its a 24” phantom front and a stingray back joined. Kind of a weird experiment that was bred from the rear of the phantom guard being crusty.

Also I will mention not only was that 24” phantom guard crusty. The stingray guard was never really actually a stingray guard. It was pink and it had 3 layers of different paint on top of that. I painted the reverse screen on it after I painted it green.

I just want to let it be known that I love schwinn bikes. When I started this thread it was intended to chronicle all the Schwinns that seemed different in ads, which lead to questioning if they actually existed on shop floors or could be ordered as you wanted in a given shop back in the day. I really didn't expect to find so many photos of all these different combinations of parts. Hell the 1963 stingray was a result of getting parts from various makers made from basically the same frame that was made 10 years earlier and you know the history after that. And clearly some stuff was never available in its current form but sometimes it leads to new trends or leaves you with wonder ( how'd you do that?) - zen moment!! I look forward to seeing what else is out there adding to the aurora of the bike some of us love so much.
