ruff-life

Finally riding a big boys bike
Good morning, found this bike for sale, curious to get an idea of the age (I believe it to be postwar maybe late 40’s)
It has been painted (not well) and the bottom bracket has no sign of serial number , paint covered. Has a lucky seven seat post, troxel saddle not sure what’s original to the bike limited photos , current owner had it more for decor in his garage than a rider and has limited information on it

As always , any comments or feedback are welcomed
Cheers

The rear drop-outs look to be the postwar style. The rack could be from a British 3-speed. The chainring and peaked fenders are interesting. The rims do not appear to match - the rear looks like a flat profile and the front is a drop-center.

Thank you! I don’t even see the difference in the rims !
Yes the chainring is interesting, I haven’t seen another example yet but I’m sure there’s some out there
The peaked fenders appear similar to a pair I got on a Schwinn DX ( which weren’t original )
I appreciate the comment on the rear rack, it didn’t look original to the bike to me but I really don’t know what I am looking at lol 😂

I assume the "R"s in the front sprocket are for Rollfast... original to the bike.

I agree about the rack, which seems a little undersized relative to the rest of the bike.

Appears to be a 1946-47. The serial under the crank will tell you the year.

Thanks I appreciate the input, issue is we can’t see the serial number likely because of the poor paint job

Cheers

Since the frame has been repainted why not just scrape off the paint on the bottom bracket? Do a neat job, get some masking tape and tape off around the bottom bracket and repaint the damn thing with some more black paint after you get the serial number exposed

Which is what I will do once I buy it, just want to make sure I know enough about it before we agree on price
