Finally riding a big boys bike
I'm an old guy (81) with a collection down in the basement...and life issues dictate I sell 'em. If I just let the bikes sit, my three daughters will be faced with finding them new homes - and I'd like to save them the trouble. Most, are fairly rare bikes in my area (just outside Chicago) and people aren't familiar with them; many are girl's models. I knew they'd be difficult to sell, when I bought them. I never intended to make money on any of them. I've advertised about a half-dozen on craigslist over the past year, with a few bites and sales. All the bikes are in nice shape. I've fully restored a few...all have been at least carefully cleaned, serviced, with new spokes, grips and tires where appropriate. All show that I value originality. I'm just wondering if anyone has found a way to move the herd on, short of parking them all at the curb with a "$50, your choice" sign. Thanks. And in case you're wondering, here's my list:
1960’s(?) Yamaguchi Gold Star
1980(?) Fendt shaft drive
1938 Raleigh Irish X Frame fully restored
1948 Raleigh Low Gravity “Butcher’s Bike” restored
1938 Raleigh Gent’s
1948 Raleigh DL-1 Tourist
1969 Raleigh Superbe Ladies’
1
971 Raleigh Superbe Men’s
1973 Raleigh DL-1 Tourist
1961 Dunelt
1965 Rudge
1936 Adler 3 Gang
1938 Kronan
1944 Crescent
1958 Gazelle
Path Racer Tribute build
1938 Phillips w/Cyclo derailleur
Locomotief (year?)
Sparta (Year?)
Italian Old Line (year?)
Falter Folding (year?)
Worksman Mover restored

Pictures are always appreciated! Thanks.

Nice bikes.
Space, time and health issues dictate a herd thinning. All of these bikes are rare enough that I know nothing/close to nothing about them (i.e., company history, year of manufacture, etc.). Insofar as I can tell, they're original (the Osawa has new spokes/freewheel); they all present well. If you're truly interested, I have more pictures - and I'll answer questions as best I can. If you're looking to have a bike no one else has, one/all of these should get you there. Located 55 miles NW of Chicago.
The list:
New Model Gold Star $450 SOLD
Osawa Super Deluxe $400
Falter Folding Bike. $200
Locomotief Locomat $450
Sparta $300
Old Line Motecchio $250

Don’t forget to bump your posts, so that they come back to the top of the list, periodically.

If this is a for sale thread then post some pics with a price for the lot or individually and move it to the for sale section. Quite a few collectors in that area and maybe you can get everything gone in one fell swoop if you are realistic with the pricing.

-----

AFAIK nearly all of the marques mentioned have good documented histories and should prove of interest to collectors

forum member @non-fixie will be able to give some information on the Locomotief name

I'm on that same boat. Sending prayers they sell, and prayers of health & prosperity.
