On Training Wheels
I have been looking for trikes for a while. most I find are aluminum frames and this simply will not do for my plans so there are "rules" that need to be followed.
The frame must be steel NO EXCEPTIONS.
would prefer a 24" model to keep center of gravity lower to the ground, explanation in a bit
needs to be able to be equipped with a replacement axle able to accommodate a disk brake
My idea is..... well I have had this old briggs and stratton engine for quite some time I removed from my Go-Cart many years ago when i wrecked it beyond repair. over the years its had some hop ups applied to it. with the custom engined bike craze running rampant around my area I had the idea to attach this old briggs to a bicycle.
sure i could go get one of those newer schwinn stingrays they came out with in the early 2000's BUT that requires a hot exhaust being near a leg and with as much has been done to this motor (started life off at 5.5HP and is now at 15hp) if it happens to detonate for any reason I would rather not have legs (more importantly my groin) that close to flying steel and hot oil.
I intend to (excuse the slang) bastardize a plate on the back via supports i will weld in place (hence the steel requirement for welding purposes)
at the rear of the bike where a basket would go. and mount the tank on the neck tube or make a rack and use an old harley oil tank (have a ton of them around) as a fuel tank untill something more permanent is located.
can anybody recommend a pre made steel frame trike and a brand as a starting block as i have no clue where to start to make a frame to a trike frame from scratch.
thanks a lot for reading
