On Training Wheels
I have been looking for trikes for a while. most I find are aluminum frames and this simply will not do for my plans so there are "rules" that need to be followed.

The frame must be steel NO EXCEPTIONS.
would prefer a 24" model to keep center of gravity lower to the ground, explanation in a bit
needs to be able to be equipped with a replacement axle able to accommodate a disk brake

My idea is..... well I have had this old briggs and stratton engine for quite some time I removed from my Go-Cart many years ago when i wrecked it beyond repair. over the years its had some hop ups applied to it. with the custom engined bike craze running rampant around my area I had the idea to attach this old briggs to a bicycle.

sure i could go get one of those newer schwinn stingrays they came out with in the early 2000's BUT that requires a hot exhaust being near a leg and with as much has been done to this motor (started life off at 5.5HP and is now at 15hp) if it happens to detonate for any reason I would rather not have legs (more importantly my groin) that close to flying steel and hot oil.

I intend to (excuse the slang) bastardize a plate on the back via supports i will weld in place (hence the steel requirement for welding purposes)
at the rear of the bike where a basket would go. and mount the tank on the neck tube or make a rack and use an old harley oil tank (have a ton of them around) as a fuel tank untill something more permanent is located.

can anybody recommend a pre made steel frame trike and a brand as a starting block as i have no clue where to start to make a frame to a trike frame from scratch.

thanks a lot for reading

I had an old 24" adult tricycle with a Tecumseh 1.5 hp motor on it. You had to peddle to help start if you wanted to take off quickly but then when you got going it went faster than you really wanted to go on a trike. It was unstable at fast speeds. Riding a motorized tricycle is not like riding a go cart. It sounds fun but isn't very practical. Find another go cart body, you'll be much happier.

hence the reason i requested the 24"

my plan is to put 18" wheels on it on all the points to really lower the center of gravity down and reduce the top speed I can achieve.

I already put one of these on a quadra cycle a friend made same wheel setup and it only did about 20mph goverend to about half throttle to prolong the life of the engine.

I live way outside of town and this is an easier cheaper way to get into town for me

I just want to see the youtube video! Full throttle and a few beers to make it really funny! ok seriously how about a Scwinn Town and Country trike? V/r Shawn

the town and country is made of aluminum, i already looked into this. it cant be aluminum, the vibrations from a single cylinder will snap the fram in short order

Where are you located? I just picked up an old steel heavy as hell Worksman trike. I doubt you'd want to pay shipping, but if you're anywhere in the midwest, we may be able to work something out.
I'll get some pics tomorrow of it if you're interested.

A coworker of mine brought this back with him from China were he spent a few years with work.

It's 26" but you would trade off the work of make a bike a trike to making this on low. I believe he is asking $175
