Lohmann wheel generator operation question

Hi. I am restoring a 1952 Schwinn World Traveler and this piece is confusing me. I am used to the kind that has a press switch for in-- this one does not have it. Does anyone know how it operates to not touch the wheel? Thanks, John

I believe if you pull it away from the wheel it will lock and pulling it again will release it. If that doesn't work, try pulling it back and push in what looks like a button on the end of the mount.

My guess is that button is there to drop the bottle onto the tire. You re-set to the disengaged position by twisting the bottle itself back into place. It should "click" and reset the button on its own when you do that. The French ones sometimes work like that as well.
