You already have at least one person not going due to the no bike riding new rule. Please take that rule out or you will lose more people. Not that many people actually ride bikes there but it was good to know that you could to test out a bike or get around on a bike. This is a bicycle meet/ swap, it doesn’t make sense to have this rule and you have the power/ authority to change it back to allow bike riding again.
Tim s, I don't know if you are referring this to me but I am just the messenger, Nick Avina is the one in charge of Monroe Bicycle Show & Swap, he is the one that set the Rule's. This not riding thing has been set in place due to the addition of Minibikes, Whizzers and the such, if you notice on the flyer it say's "During Show hours" Sunday, lots of people walking around, I could only imagine someone running over someone's kid or getting hurt, no more Show. There is a lot that goes into organizing this event and there is a lot of responsibility taken by the organizer, insurance and bonding an event of this size is not cheap, every insurance company is the same, there is no cheap solution to safety first. That is your choice to not attend but with the addition and exposure there will be a larger attendance for everyone to enjoy buying & selling.
This is why I say to get the best pick of what is attending, spend the $40 bucks and get a swap space, set-up on Saturday ride your bike, get your stuff ready for Sunday and you will already have seen most that will be available. By noon when the Auction starts the Swap will pretty much be over, then Show Awards and then vendors will be packing to leave.
*NOTE ...
For Your Safety & Insurance Purposes ... There will be NO Motorized Vehicles, Cars, Golf Carts or Bicycle Riding During Show Hours ...
Violators Will Be Ejected!
