Hershey swap meet has the same rule about bicycles. I saw two near misses between people who were walking and golf carts at Hershey. The golf cart drivers were looking at stuff instead of where they were going in both cases. If somebody runs a golf cart into the back of your foot or leg they are going to do more damage than a bike. There are also a lot of individual scooters there too and I understand some people actually need those to get around. If these places allowed and encouraged bicycle use it would promote health and fitness as opposed to the opposite. I would guess that we all got into the bike hobby as a result of the fun we had on and with bikes as a kid and now at the biggest bike swap n show in America they( some insurance company) don’t want anybody riding bikes. I say find another Ins. company to handle the meet. Don’t let them suck part of the fun out of our hobby by making this rule. It is a bike event for gods sake! You should be encouraging people to ride their classic bikes not discouraging them. At the wheelmen bike meets they have a century ride day, riding demonstrations for the public, bicycle games, an official highwheel tour of 5 miles, and a lamp ride at night, all or mostly all done on highwheel bikes which are not all that safe but are fun. Don’t discourage biking encourage biking. Please take that no bike riding rule out, it ruins part of the possible fun a person can have at one of these events. Let us know your decision? Tim S
