Hi @juvela

Yes, it struck me too. I think it's called 'Artistic Licence' (-:

That said, the factory building behind the block is still there, and reasonably large, about 30m by 200m

I was also surprised to see (after posting) that the stone fence posts still seem to be in place, incorporated into the shop.

This photo from 2008 looks closer to the original, and it had probably just closed as a factory at that time. It really has fallen on hard times since.

Reviving a post but was wondering if you figured out what you had? If so what's the serial number so I can try to identify mine.

Here is one that's for sale in the San Francisco Bay Area: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/d/fremont-vintage-1933-aberdale-bike/7855402886.html I'm certain this was on the Palo Alto Bike Exchange for a while - it was on sale for $60 https://shop.bikex.org/product/aber...k-lytf/2621?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false

It's a 1969 hub but a vintage SA top tube shifter. That chainring indicates not a high-end bicycle - good quality ones from the manufacturers of the day had specific chainrings based on their company - Raleigh had three herons, Rudge had the hand, BSA had those letters around the chainring, etc. This one looks like the one that Raleigh had for their middle-of-the-road bikes like Dunelt or Phillips or Robin Hood.

Seems like English roadsters are not that popular anymore, but I sure like them!
