Hi All,

After my problems of trying to import lamps from the USA, I've given up searching there.

A chance look at a website in Germany a couple of weeks ago showed a USA marked Neverout, and hiding in the back of the shot, a double clamp.

The price was reasonable, and overland transport not a problem. And the seller spoke good French (but no English), and so was easy and friendly to deal with.

It's missing the bottom (a common problem) and the interior mirror, but the clamp is painted a good military green. Te lamp I would guess has been with it since the start, and is well used, so I think the black paint is actually burnt green.

Nice find!

Hi All,

you can see that the clamp above is marked 'Patented', so I went looking for the patent.

Firstly, I found @hoofhearted 's picture in post 9 which shows a page from the Patent for this lamp:

You can see the inventor is Edwin M Rosenbluth. I was only able to find a British copy of the patent, from 3rd July 1897. The full patent is (hopefully!) attached to this post.

Sorry, can't rotate it.

Mr Rosenbluth patented this in his own name, not Rose Mfg, but I assume he was closely associated with the company, since Rosenbluth means Rose Bloom in German.

He has about 20 other patents listed for lamps, brackets etc. but I was unable to find the bracket above, so either the patent failed, is lost or was patented by someone else and licensed to the company.

Mr Rosenbluth's patents shadow the development of transport at the start of the 20th Century, being for Keresine lamps for bicyles, Acetylene and then electric lamps for motorcyles and cars, and brackets of different types for car registration plates.

Best Regards,

Adrian

Hi All,

If someone in the USA is still looking for a single clamp bracket and some spares, this might be worthwhile...

As always, no connection with seller.

Hi All,

To be fair to all concerned, I waited until this recent auction finshed. I did have a punt at it, but was outbid. However, I saved the rather good photos:

It's a pity we cannot tell if it's stamped USA or not.

Hi All,

no connection with the seller, but there are two of the double clamp (motorcycle type) Neverout brackets on Ebay BIN at the moment.
