Just making conversation.
No animus meant.
I was just curious what the most expensive bicycle tires were, and was surprised to see that these beat out Pirelli, Goodyear, Goodrich, Yokohama, Bridgestone, Vittoria, Clement, Continental, Michelin, etc.
I understand the expense to get something made that there’s such a small retail market for.
So, I get that there’s a big up front cost for something that only one or two guys were even asking for, so I can fully appreciate the passion to get these made.
I just wanted to do a price comparison with other well known bicycle tires, that I’m sure required the same, if not more investment to get made.
Just thought it would be of interest to some folks around here.
It’s all good!
I’m sure I’ll buy a pair or two, once I figure out what bike they’d be appropriate for?
Most of my rides aren’t nice enough for such a beautiful tire as these.

The question was asked what does this have to do with this thread? to me it sounds like you’re still sort of kidney punching the tire. only one or two guys want the tires.👍🏽

It has to do with the Pharis Lightning Dart/Snake Belly tire.
My mistake I guess?
I was under the impression, that this is what this thread was all about?
Like I said,
Hey, it’s all good!
Now that these tires have been made, I’m sure the market has grown tenfold.
Now there’s at least 20 guys who want them?
Just joking!
Don’t take anything I say too seriously.
These tires are definitely cool, and my hope is that they are wildly successful.
That would mean that our little niche hobby is growing.
That would be good for everyone involved.

Hey there Mark, Corky Coker Is actually selling the tires on his Honest Charlies Speed shop website, check it out
I guess he was probably ground zero in the manufacturing process.
When he sold Coker tire he opened Honest Charlies, Cheers Pat

Not sure what happened here, tires were originally going to be sold by Chips on his site now someone else jumped in and started selling them?

Did you watch the video I posted?

He is still running Coker tire.
The plan was to sell at both places.

They certainly are near the top, but that’s because there is virtually no competition. I’m sure limited production isn’t that cost effective either.

Hopefully this will lead to a few more reproduction options down the road.

Virtually no competition but some. If you are just going for the look, sometimes you can get the original for less.

Do you want a 26" tire with side tread to ride? I love my Hookworms with "bead to bead tread". There are others.

I think it's great that there is a reproduction tire for the collectors that want them but the cost limits the market that this tire will reach. I understand the economies of scale working against this and the investment in tooling needs to be paid for at some point, but it seems like buying at the minimum order quantity and trying to ammortize all the tooling over a small quantity puts this tire's retail price outside of me giving it a spin. I hope they sell a million and the price can come down.

I compare the price of these Snake Belly tires to other uncommon tires in our industry......Robert Dean tires are $300/pair shipped.....solid rubber Universal tires are also in the $300+ category, and I think these are a Coker product. I know these are 28" tires for uncommon rims, but the Snake Bellies are also uncommon! The Snake Bellies are so cool looking and obviously a good rider as has been posted by @tripple3 that I am willing to spend the $$$. I ordered one pair and will see if I like them before ordering a few more, I have a few worthy candidates for cool tires!😀

I already had @fordmike65 snag me a pair at the swap down there. They'll be going on my full deluxe No Nose. It has Johns Chains on there now which ride killer but I think the snakes will add a little more allure to that bike and ill put the chains on another bike. Now... maybe I'll sell my super clean original pair I have. Maybe....
