Stoked on these tires!I hope my first set were in that first shipment today. I have shredded a couple pair of OG snake bellies trying to ride them so I am looking forward to being able to ride these tires without trouble.
Mounted them to a set of "flat sided", "triple step" wheels, on this 1936 Western Flyer, by Shelby.
Marty @cyclingday won't run these, dis-continued for a reason, but original to some early bikes.
They mounted up nice, seem perfect to run.
Test ride fine, next up for some miles and smiles. View attachment 2380308

They certainly are near the top, but that’s because there is virtually no competition. I’m sure limited production isn’t that cost effective either.
Studded mtb tires? Some are over $200 each. And some Maxxis triple compound DH tires are easily $100+, and those only last a few months when ridden as intended.
Check out FMB if you consider tubulars in the same category. Those will make your eyes pop out of your head!
Hopefully this will lead to a few more reproduction options down the road.
I guess AI is going to have to adjust their model now.
The New Pharis Snake Belly is the most expensive bicycle tire on the market. View attachment 2380542
I don’t understand Marty??
why you’re even posting this in this thread??? if you don’t like the price, don’t buy them.
Or maybe you can go into your savings account and pull out $30-$40k actually purchased the name of whatever tire you’re interested in then send it off to get the mold done and see how much all that cost you.
You knew the price at the swap meet and then you asked me if they would be interested in making some more tires of a different brand that you wanted..you had an NOS set.really confused..am I missing the positive vibe?
Just making conversation.
No animus meant.
I was just curious what the most expensive bicycle tires were, and was surprised to see that these beat out Pirelli, Goodyear, Goodrich, Yokohama, Bridgestone, Vittoria, Clement, Continental, Michelin, etc.
I understand the expense to get something made that there’s such a small retail market for.
So, I get that there’s a big up front cost for something that only one or two guys were even asking for, so I can fully appreciate the passion to get these made.
I just wanted to do a price comparison with other well known bicycle tires, that I’m sure required the same, if not more investment to get made.
Just thought it would be of interest to some folks around here.
It’s all good!
I’m sure I’ll buy a pair or two, once I figure out what bike they’d be appropriate for?
Most of my rides aren’t nice enough for such a beautiful tire as these.
