On Training Wheels
I have a Super deluxe stingray with the two speed blue band and a 20-in Springer fork. I have owned it since I was 5 years old and it was 2 years old. Of course, I went through the Motocross phase so it lost its banana seat and its high-rise handlebars, and got rat trap pedals and all the other things that we used to put on them in the 70s. I'm trying to get it back into original condition.

I have not been able to find upholstery for the banana seat. The frame is painted in coppertone, and my recollection is that the original seat was gold glitter with faux stitched bands going across the seat. I found a company that makes replacement seat covers, but they seem to be using actual stitching, so to my eye they don't look right. Has anyone used these seat covers? Do they end up looking close to original? If not, is there any way to get the original style of gold glitter vinyl with the vertical line trim? I found a few survivors on ebay, but they always seem to be in terrible shape.

I may be mis-remembering. The serial number on the frame is an early 64. I guess that would make it the white tufted saddle.

Does this N4 Coppertone look like what you remember?

Please provide the first two characters in the serial number so we know what bike you’re dealing with.

I guess that would be accurate, even though it's not what I remember. My recollection is gold glitter grips and a gold sparkle seat, put my recollection in that Michael Jackson had very dark skin too, and I was clearly wrong about that.

The C4 says it’s a March 1964 (short frame) bike.
Schwinn did not make a Super Deluxe Stingray until June of ‘64.

Also the 3 Blueband Overdrive rear hub was not offered until very late ‘64 as it was a New Option for 1965 Stingrays.

Sounds like you may have had a J-38 Standard or a J-39 Deluxe that had a springer, rear wheel and glitter grips installed at one time.

Original factory condition is shown in post #4 for a Super Deluxe.

Take a photo of the entire bike.

There are a few vendors that reupholster, restore depending on what you are looking to have done. Most want your pan or core to redo and yes, they look very close to original when done.
Here are some early Persons seat examples ...

My brothers and I were always taking things apart and putting them back together, so it's quite possible that I ended up with the wrong frame. Judging from what's here, it would appear that this is probably a 1966. The correct seat for that would be tufted silver glow, right? And is that more of a metal flake silver?
