Not sure if some confusion might have been avoided, if some of the technical information in post #4 was included in the description (if an online ad), or in the discussion (if an in-person sale). I don't know if it was or not?

I have seen some online sale descriptions for oddball items, using negatively-exclusive terms, such as "won't fit your common xxx".

If customer satisfaction is a goal of the seller, then perhaps a full refund might be due -
just like in the biking movie, Breaking Away.
