What's actually more rare is to find these in poor or modified condition. They are great to look at, considering they're an example of Schwinn's construction that's mostly undisturbed, but I really have to chuckle when I see them priced at $800...or even $300.
I've found 5 of these this year, I hate to part them out but there is a lot of good parts to be used for those 26" Cruisers bicycles. Seat, badge, various chrome parts, chain, bearings & hardware.
The large sprocket is being used by the lowrider bicycle builders, custom laser cut the centers.

I had mentioned the early exerciser's and made me think of "when did Schwinn start making these?"...
1966 XR1 - Radiant Coppertone & White ... never seen a White one.

I picked this Exerciser recently and it has a '66 crank and Jr. Stingray bars but has a Chicago badge. Did the chicago badges start in '67? The seat is in incredible shape and is the reason I bought it. The sweet '66 Stingray crank, stem and handlebars are a bonus. Is there any market for the speedometer on these? How many years did they offer the HD 7000 seat? Seems like only a year or 2. @WillWork4Parts @koolbikes any help?

What was the serial number on that bike? That is a very early version of the Exerciser, and looks to be an XR-1 that came out in 66.

The serial numbers are pretty wacky on the later model exercise bikes, they have a second one on the fork too. I never pay any attention to the serials anymore because they are only worth the sum of their parts...which don't always match year wise.

The Chicago marked badges started New on regular production bikes in 1966 as well as the smaller stem. I'm sure Schwinn used up whatever they had for old stock though.

I save the speedometers for parts, the face is different, but that unbolts from the internals that can still be used in other Hurret speedometers, such as the Stingray type. Really, the heads are universal, so you can put them on whatever bike you want. I can't say that I've ever paid good money for a parts speedometer unless it said Stingray on the face though. The cables are most always too short on exercisers, but the drive can be used on anything 20". Dad and I have been repairing the speedometers for years. He even makes new inner cables now for Krates, or whatever length you specify really.
