So, the '64 KSA and the '65 KSHD are the same bike except for the seat post decal and the chainguard screening. Such an easy transition and an easy way to clean out the old frames.
Yes and also the transition to a regular sized HD was just as easy as the KSHD had no King Size designation on it whatsoever same guard for both. Often unknowing sellers list them as regular HD because of that

Thanks! Have you ever seen a 1965 Heavy Duti (regular) with a mid year serial number?

Note the Model Number change year to year.

I can't say there is not any out there. But too be honest I do not see a ton of HD's at all let alone early one's mostly '70s+. The cantilever bars are not dimpled as well as extra brazing on the KS frame. Easy enough to add the brazing to a middle weight frame call it HD and use the same guard. On later HD's they went with no extra Brazing.

Have you ever done a side-by-side frame comparison between a 1965 M14-6 Kingsize Heavy Duti and a 1963 A19 Kingsize Heavy Duty American?

Looks like Schwinn decided to discontinue the KSHD after this price sheet was printed. No date when that sheet was actually printed. I'm sure there was some mention of the discontinuation before the new year production began.
The discontinuation occurred before June 1, 1966 as seen above. According to the 1966 Schwinn Dealer Catalog, a 1966 Kingsize Heavy Duti never existed. The bike pictured has the regular sized head tube and the frame is called out in the specification as the 1920 frame. These pages were "EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1966" and were now being generated by IBM.

I have a 62 KSAHD, a 64 built 62 KSA, and a 64 (65) KSHD.
The two HD's have additional brazing to the cantilever bars at the seat post and the down tube. So yes they are different.

Sorry, I don't quite understand. So the '62 KSAHD and the '65 KSHD frames are identical?
