Appears to be a King Size American but with the braze-on for the battery tank to energize the headlamp, also notice the chrome chainguard and holes in the Ashtabula fork blades, that appear factory but what were they there for???

was poking around on the CABE when I stumbled onto what may be a "Deluxe King Size American" https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/blue-american.256669/
Just to clarify in this thread, the owner of the bike said he robbed the tank tabs from another frame. This one is a custom resto-mod.

I haven't stared at one in years, but I'm pretty sure those were electro-forged in place on the factory frames. You can tell by the rectangular impression that the tooling left on the bottom side of the tabs. Could call it a spot weld too, but from what I remember trying to rob one myself, there was no brass or silver and the bond at the frame was larger than the rectangular indent.

duly noted. The factory likely did flash-spot the "tab" on the original Deluxe with battery-tank frame, and that frame was likely a middleweight of the exact approximate time period. To me, this is not merely a restomod but a class enhanced build. Entirely a possible and logical period model.
The tab could easily be ground to fit any similar frame, and then brazed on, and this would have no negative effect on the structural integrity of the frame.
silver alloy braze flows at a lower temp than bronze so it doesn't change the frame, and removing said "tab" by touching it to the torch flame tip would make it fall off easily.

Also to clarify, the tanks did have batteries in them, except the Fleet model where the tank was purely decorative...The batteries in the Slimline tanks were for the horn only, they never had a switch for a light or a grommet for running an external wire.

so this tank must have originally been for a horn, it has what appears to me a horn button. My first thought but I then noticed the bell on the bars and the headlight and surmised it was power for that, but it doesn't appear to be wired yet. I was thinking if it were my build, how would I wire it in the most professional and sanitary way, no small task since the light moves back and forth on the forks while the "tank" is stationary to the frame. I hope I get to see how Tim handles this.
