According to the Schwinn catalogs, the 1959 - 1961 Tornados had separate twin bars between the seat tube and the head tube. In 1962, the Typhoon had the twin bar frame but the twin bars were extensions of the seat stays. Was there a mid-year model change in 1961 where the twin bars were extensions of the seat stays on the Tornado? As the bike in this post shows.

The attached picture is from the 1961 catalog.

61 tornado had a frame change mid year and it had the continuous straight bars. I posted the Schwinn reporter mentioning this a couple of times.

Not a barn find as in my populated area there are not to many barns, more of a shed find while hunting for Stingray bikes and parts. Was next to the Panther I just started a post regarding that bike in this middleweight section. I have sold about 6 bikes on here the last 6 weeks and really appreciate the help in telling me what I had and a price range for the bikes. So please do not be afraid to tell me what is wrong with the bike, and correct me if I am wrong in what I think this is, the more I can tell a buyer about the bike either good or bad the better.
Serial # starts with a F1, so a June 1961? Twin Bar Typhoon. Original paint, has a rear bendix brake. Wheels look to possibly be S2's, maybe painted, has the 26 X 2.125 tires on it, not the smaller middleweight tires which it should have. I guess owner wanted a balloon tire bike. Paint looks all original, fair worn shape. Screen on guard looks pretty good. I sold a similar bike on here about 2-3 weeks ago similar to this, a 1961 twin bar red bike, also had the big tires on it, no original forks, repainted guard, got a little over $200 on it, this one is nicer. Bike rides real well. So I can only make a guess as to value, maybe $250-400. Any input on price and the bike in general would be helpful to me and any potential buyer's. Thanks
