Does anyone know if the rear fender on this bike is the same as any other Schwinn model? I'd really like to get rid of my cut-up one.

Same as any other model? The answer to that particular question is no. It has to be a middleweight 26 inch bike with just the hole for the bridge mounting. I would say from 1963 on up.

I’ve only seen the extra welds on the very early heavy duties.
Yes both mine are early '64/'65

Any middle weight from that '63 up like GT said will work. I have never tried to squeeze the earlier pre '63 middle weight fenders on a later model but I imagine it would work.

Hi guys, now that my '62 Typhoon project is nearing completion, I'm hoping to begin the teardown of the Heavy-Duti in the next week or two. Still debating on the tire situation. The ones I have are definitely shot, and I plan to ride the crap out of this bike! I really wish I could find a tractor-style tread in the original size, but I guess we'll see. One thing I learned the hard way on my '62...good quality tires are WELL WORTH the money! Pics soon.
