Finally riding a big boys bike
Well, I never planned on having any Schwinn bikes, I was always for the underdogs and my parents did not have enough money to afford Schwinn bicycles for us kids growing up, so we ended up with el-cheapo off brands, and I am still pretty nostalgic for those. But the people who did buy Schwinn bikes new seemed to take care of a lot of them, and it seems if you like old bikes there are more Schwinns around today than any other brands, even Huffy who at one time made more bikes than any other company on the planet right? So a number of years ago, maybe it was almost two decades, when I ran across a serviceable mid-80s Schwinn Supersport for ten bucks at a garage sale I was happy to have it. Then someone gave me an old LeTour frame I fixed up and rode a lot, and things snowballed from there and now I have more Schwinn bikes and parts laying around that I can comfortably store. And all I think about it is I could have much, much, much worse problems than that right?
Oh, I also found out that when my father's stepfather came home from WWII he bought my old man a new Schwinn DX. How did you end up with a pile of Schwinn stuff?
