Weird Schwinn Stingray slick design?

Alright, I know this should have a couple of photos attached and I promise to do so tomorrow, yet I'll ask right now anyway and provide a photo of a similar tread I found online... see the image that says "4 Slick" (from the 1973 Sears catalog). Sorry for the tiny sample.

I have a boys 1975 StingRay Jr. that has a really weird slick design. It has the sidewalls like the gripper slick but the tread is, um, a slick aside from 2 STRAIGHT grooves going around the circumference. It has the usual Schwinn branding. Never saw this before.

The Schwinn Sting Ray Slik Tire you are referring to are the middleweight 20" x 1 3/4", S-7 Tires, as the balloon 20" x 2.125", S-2 Schwinn Slik did Not have grooves.
