I decided to tackle this Step Through Autocycle and try my hand at an OA bath… this old girl seemed like a perfect candidate.

Mixing the solution now.

Soaking all the screws, bolts, nuts, and other components in a white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, and Dr Pepper concoction I’ve used for years. Works like a charm, smells terrible.

Modified the rear fender on my roadbike. As factory original parts these were supposed to fit the bike perfectly but I had to shorten the rear fender by 6 inches so it didn’t look like the mud flap on a Kenworth.

It also needed a 3/8” spacer between the fender and the frame at the front just to fasten the thing on correctly.

Good thing I didn’t buy aftermarket…

My pre war Colson rat got here and it took 3 hours to get it apart. Good thing it was cheap. Has been identified as a Nov '39 frame. It had 2 nails wedged into the seat tube to adapt a 5/8" seat tube into the 3/4" tube. Fork is CWC I believe. I'm going to need a few things for this one.

Gotta say the nails are unique... might just be a must have addition to my next rat bike build. So school boy backyard hack...... great Colson project bike - thanks for sharing!

This '37 Roadmaster arrived this morning in a box, and I tore it down to a bare frame. Then started rebuilding it with parts from a bike I recently parted out and sold most of. Then out for an evening ride. Once the fenders get straightened out they'll go back on, and it'll get a drop stand. Sometime soon the frame set and fenders will be painted red with black points.

When I finally got a chance to ride a vintage Schwinn for the first time a few weeks back the chain came apart. Operator/Owner error due to mix matching Union and Diamond Masters and not getting a secure snap ! However while it was rolling I detected a very significant hop on the front rim. My new friend @Eddie_Boy gave me some tips on how to get it better and I decided to give it a whirl. Don’t have a true stand so did the zip tie to fork for before and after and divided the circumference into segments and did the pulls with spokes loosened etc in some vises. I’m happy with the results and look forward to a long ride after Thanksgiving. I made some videos but can’t seem to upload outside of making a youtube.

I took the tank off the Bull Nose I just got to make sure there weren’t any batteries in the tank and to adjust it. I then rolled it to the back for a photo shoot and noticed the steering was really tight. The tanks on these attach with a screw on each side and in the front it screws into the head tube. The screws were about an 1/8” to long and when I tightened them they bottomed out on the steer tube. Some quick grinder action and problem solved!

Headed out for one last ride as my '48 Pilot was, then came home to tear it down. Time to change out a few parts and paint others. I'm done with the springer and will be going probably to a truss rod blade fork. I already swapped out the badge to a top and bottom screw Hawthorne one. I knew all along that the Seattle Cycle Supply Pilot badge was not original, because the previous owner put that on with rivets. When he got it it had no badge.
