I got hooked on leather work from an 8th grade substitute art teacher. Been doing it ever since. My most recent work has been for Gunfight reenactors and quick draw competition. Too much Roy Roger's as a kid I guess. Been thinking about some bike related projects.

Collecting Deckel FP1's (rare vintage German milling machines) My wife calls them my "shop porn". 😆

Oh man Deckels are the shizzle! At Ventana I spent a lot of time in front of a Bridgeport and a Cincinnati. I favored the Bridgeport only because I was taught on it. Fun stuff was setting them both up for a production run.

I could not agree more! I have 3 of them now, I bought my 3rd one early last year for only $1200! The guy selling it posted it on CL as deckel (not machine tool or milling machine) LOL. He was amazed when I rented a truck and drove down with the cash. Once I was "paid up" and the mill in the truck, I asked why he didn't post it as a milling machine? He scratched the side of his head and said" Wow, I'd hadn't thought of that".

The really cool thing about the mill (besides coming with a good selection of "Barbi clothes") is that it's serial number is 29997 and the mill in back of the picture I posted is 29996, I call them my sweet Bavarian fraulen twins! Another fun fact is that 29996 first lived in the Criterian prototype lab and 29997 was in an aerospace instrument prototype lab in LA. The first 2 mills I traded my industrial design time to a client for them!😆

But GOSH you think collecting vintage bicycles is expensive!!!!

Here is the scan of the Deckel FP1's "Barbi clothes".
